Natural Cures - Cinnamon and Honey

We have so many healing foods available to us and it's my goal to educate and  share my knowledge of these healing foods and herbs to all of you.  The herbs foods and products that I share with you if possible  must always be pure, organic, without chemicals for the best results.  With that understood, please read on to some amazing and healthy cures that this months topic found in Cinnamon and Honey!  Enjoy!

 Cinnamon and Honey

 Drug companies won't like this one getting around. Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: 

It is found that a mix of PURE honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also note honey as very effective medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without side effects which is also a plus. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, when it is taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm even diabetic patients.

 Researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES: Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, put it on toast instead of jelly and jam and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol and could potentially save one from heart attack. Also, even if you have already had an attack studies show you could be kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of cinnamon honey strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as one ages the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and the veins.


ARTHRITIS: Arthritis patients can benefit by taking one cup of hot water with two tablespoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. When taken daily even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week (out of the 200 people so treated) practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain -- and within a month, most all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis now started walking without pain. 

BLADDER INFECTIONS: Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder....who knew? 

CHOLESTEROL: Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water given to a cholesterol patient was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, when taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol-could be cured. According to information received in the said Journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.

COLDS: Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and, clear the sinuses, and it's delicious too!

UPSET STOMACH: Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also is said to clear stomach ulcers from its root.

GAS: According to the studies done in India and Japan, it is revealed that when Honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

IMMUNE SYSTEM: Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacterial and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of Honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles (where DNA is contained) to fight bacterial and viral diseases.

INDIGESTION: Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food is eaten relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals

INFLUENZA: A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural 'Ingredient' which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.

LONGEVITY: Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. Use four teaspoons of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder, and three cups of boiling water to make a tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans increase and even a 100 year old will start performing the chores of a 20-year-old.

RASPY OR SORE THROAT: When throat has a tickle or is raspy, take one tablespoon of honey and sip until gone. Repeat every three hours until throat is without symptoms.

PIMPLES: Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it off the next morning with warm water. When done daily for two weeks, it removes all pimples from the root.

SKIN INFECTIONS: Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin Infections.

WEIGHT LOSS: Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast and on an empty stomach, and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. When taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

CANCER: Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder three times a day for one month.

FATIGUE: Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, even when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, when taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M., the vitality of the body increases within a week.

BAD BREATH: People of South America, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water first thing in the morning so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.

HEARING LOSS: Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restores hearing.

Primary Foods (TM) Integrative Nutrition The Bigger Picture in Circle.

          For most of us, what first to comes to mind when we see the word nutrition is "food".    We assume that getting in shape and "healthy" depends upon the foods we eat.   But is this commonly-health belief true?    Is it really just the actual food that we choose to eat that is the defining factor in creating healthy bodies and lives or unhealthy ones?

          The foods we eat do make a difference to our health, but they are not as important as the emotions we have while we are choosing and consuming our foods.   Unfortunately we can't get away from our emotions. We sometimes feel comfort, eating  away our emotions or trying to just ignore them, and hoping they will go away"--  of course they never do.  

        Which brings us to the bigger picture-- the "Circle of Life: healthy relationships, regular physical activity, a fulfilling career and a spiritual practice.  All of these  can fill your soul and satisfy your hunger for life.  These are what we refer to as. Primary Foods™, a concept originally developed by Joshua Rosenthal, Founder/Director of The Institute of Integrative Nutrition and author of Integrative Nutrition Feed Your Hunger for Health and Happiness.    When Primary Foods are balanced and satiating, your life feeds you, making what you eat secondary.  And when our minds are clear and we make better food choices.

       Remember when we were children.  We were playing outside, having fun and when we were called in for dinner, we wondered why.  The passion of play took all our attention- we were not hungry!  Or, when we were working on an exciting project that we truly believed in.  Passionate and so confident in what we were doing. We didn't notice the time that passed. We were focused on the project and stimulated by the process.  Mealtime and sleep didn't matter.

      We are nourished  not by the food but by the energy in our lives. We hunger not for food but for success, play, fun, love, intimacy, touch, romance, music, self expression, leadership ,adventure, excitement, spirituality and so many other intangible things.  All of these elements are essential forms of nourishment and the degree to which we are able to intergrate them into our lives determines how enjoyable and worthwhile our lives feel.  When we use Secondary Foods as a way to pacify or restrain our hunger for Primary Foods™,, the body and mind suffer.   The end results are  weight gain, heart  disease, cancer, obesity, high blood pressure, depression and diabetes.  These are national epidemics and why?  Because we are stuffing ourselves with Secondary Foods when we are really starving  for  Primary Foods™.      

        Maybe it's not the chocolate cake  that causes us to gain weight, but the job that we just can't bear for another hour .  Or maybe your body needs to move: to play, run and swim.  You know where I'm going with this, right?  What if you enjoy a small piece of chocolate cake in the afternoon at a job  you love?  You are feeling  great after work.  You grab a super smoothie or green drink at the juice bar on your way  to the gym or your favorite Zumba class . You  dance up a storm and celebrate your great day,  loving what you do, and when you finally  get home  after your workout you are ready to have a light nourishing dinner and relax!   You  sleep like a baby till you wake up and do it all over again. It's a great scenario and you- it can make it come true.  It all starts with different  choices. 

       Don't obsesses about the food you eat.  But do take a reality check.   Make it important to  be honest; make it a priority. How do you feel about you ?   Make your choices.   It's all about the circle of your  life.

 
 RECIPE:

   Yummy Kale & Cabbage Salad                

   Ingredients:

Kale

red cabbage

shallots/ red onions

dried cranberries

parsley

pine nuts (if desired)

fresh ginger (if desired)

fresh garlic (if desired)

 
Dressing portions of all ingredients to your taste and amount.  I like a tart and sweet taste.

Olive Oil

Rice Vinegar

lemon

Agave Nector

Liquid Amino ( or Sea salt

In a large salad bowl

Shred the red cabbage add to the bowl -add Kale and parsley then with a kitchen scissors cut them all into small pieces, cut up shallots , red onions(optional) ginger and garlic. (once all of these ingredients are in the bowl I take the scissors  to it again and just to be sure they are in tiny pieces, like a chopped salad- scissors make it easier for me.-- add your dried cranberries(or any dried fruit of your choice) and nuts if you like or not.  Still tastes great without the nuts.

 Stir in the dressing  et voila!  And it tastes better the next day so make a good amount to last the next couple of days.

Foods, Moods and Diet Theory's

It is so important for us to become aware of how the foods we eat make us feel,  how our moods change , our energy increases or decreases and why it should matter.  When you start to ask yourself these questions after you eat scrambled eggs, oatmeal, fresh fruit, or a muffin and coffee you will become more aware of which of these foods make you feel full of energy and which make you feel you have to "peal yourself off your chair" two hours later.     Once we  understand how our own bodies work  we will be able to consciously choose the right foods that fuel and satisfy our own unique body system.

Do you also like the idea of eating more and weighing less?  Now that might seem almost impossible, but it really isn't.  Once you  understand how this can work you will see that it's true.   The key is eating as much as you like of foods that are nutrient-rich and low in calories and understanding caloric density or volumetrics.  I will take an example from Joshua Rosenthal's book Integrative Nutrition: Feed Your Hunger For Health and Happiness. Let's use one package of Oreos (everyone loves Oreos)  which has 2200 calories.  For the same amount of calories we could consume one pound of carrots,  one pound of papaya, one pound of apples, one pound of onions, one pound of lettuce, one pound of kale, one pound of tofu, one pound of 2% cottage cheese, two pounds of cantaloupe, two pounds of celery and two pounds of cucumber.

Are you starting to follow where I am going with this?  You see, your body needs a certain volume of food each day.

It doesn't know if the bowl of cherries you are eating is 100 calories or 1000 calories. So by choosing foods that have low caloric density, you can feel full without adding that love handle around your waist.  

 All the diet theories out there have one common goal which is to lose weight.  Some truly are out there to help you eat healthier or to heal a certain condition.  They have a lot of ideas on what foods they think we should eat to reach these goals. You will see those you might be able to do and others-- not a chance.  No one diet theory is good for everyone.  When you  become more aware of what foods you like and  which make you  feel better , you are more likely to come up with a list of  foods that are good for your unique body. 

So, try it for one week.  This is one way  Rosenthal's book, Integrative Nutrition: Feed Your Hunger For Health and Happiness explains how to listen to the messages from your body.  Directions: For seven days write down what you eat for breakfast each day and  how you feel both right after the meal and then again two hours later.

 Breakfast

Day 1: Scrambled eggs -   (Right after eating I felt... Two hours after eating I felt..)
Day 2: Scrambled Tofu (or if you are like me -my body doesn't tolerate tofu- you can replace it with tempeh, which seems to work better for me.  (See http://www.fitsugar.com/Difference-Between-Tofu-Tempeh-1034188)
Day 3: Oatmeal
Day 4: Boxed Breakfast Cereal
Day 5: Muffin and coffee
Day 6: Fresh fruit
Day 7: Fresh Vegetables

Once you get this rhythm down you can expand it and include your whole day's food intake. You can also add in your water/liquid intake.   Do it week by week, experiment and eventually you will notice how your body feels and how each change of diet affects your moods and energy.

Eventually, you will create the diet theory that works for you, eating the foods that you enjoy, that are satisfying and  that make you feel good.   And what else  .... oh yeah ...those love handles disappear!

Affirmation for the month. Program your subconscious for Prosperity.

You can replace the work Creator with God, Higher Self, Buddha, Universal Source- whatever word you resonate with  feel comfortable with.

 Repeat this affirmation at least three times(to yourself / out loud) regularly each day and through out the day especially in place of that "negative chatter" that plagues our minds.  Each time you say this affirmation you will further influencing your mind into the type of mental attitude that attracts prosperity, both physically and spiritually.
